Outlet spacing is the hidden spec

Manufacturers list toaster width. They rarely list cord pivot or lever travel when the unit sits between two outlets.

Our measurement checklist

  1. Mark the center of each outlet box on the backsplash.
  2. Measure clear width between faceplates — not just tile edge to tile edge.
  3. Add 1 inch for heat clearance on each side.

Long-slot vs standard-slot tradeoffs

Long-slot toasters save width but add depth. On counters less than 20 inches deep, we prefer standard slots with a narrow chassis and top-lift levers that do not hit the cabinet.

Every Counter Crew toaster review includes outlet-spacing notes for galley kitchens.
